SHOP OUR SPRING OUTFITS:
Happy happy birthday to my beautiful Charlotte Rose. We had no idea how our lives were going to change when you entered the world three years ago. Boy have we been blessed. You are the brightest light, little lady. How we love you!
- Charlie starts at a new school on Monday! She has officially aged out of her current school (they ‘graduate’ when they turn three) and will be headed into a school district preschool next week! I’m nervous, as per usual when our setting or schedule or people change. But our past experiences have brought me some comfort, AND helped me feel confident that this new setting will be wonderful and serve Charlie well.
- New G-Tube is healing up nicely. Remember a few weeks ago when Charlie’s G-tube popped out and we had to redo the surgery? Well, I’m happy to report that the new tube has healed up perfectly and that there haven’t been any other mishaps. Thank goodness! I get a lot of questions about whether or not Charlie eats anything orally. Right now she does NOT (G-tube fed only), primarily because we discovered last year that she was silently aspirating, which is terrifying. That said, there WAS a time when Char was eating orally as well and we’d love to progress back to that point. We’ll be meeting with a swallow-therapist this year to see if we can make strides toward that.
- Still making progress. Charlie-babe attends PT/OT every week, and every week they speak to the progress she’s making. More strength, more head control, more development strides. The advancements may be small, but they are steady, and that’s all we care about.
- Still the best big sissy to little Ava. We’re just loving watching the relationship between these two sisters unfold. I’ve lost count of how many times Ava has been fussing and we lie her down on the floor close to Charlie, and she calms right down. It’s the most tender thing y’all. It’s like their perfect spirits already know and love each other.
I tell you what though – Charlie’s spirit can calm down anybody, I swear. This little lady is SUCH a light. So incredibly special. Her spirit just SHINES, and anyone who encounters her says so. We’re SO lucky to call her ours.
Happy Birthday sweet Charlie bun. There are no words for how much we love you.
